Max K. Jones, Partner

Prior to joining the firm, Max was in-house counsel for two major insurance companies. As a Partner in the firm, Max specializes in handling claims involving product liability, premises liability, toxic torts, and personal injury defense. He also counsels numerous insurance carriers on first and third party coverage issues and handles bad faith litigation. Max has successfully handled complex, high exposure cases, which have involved numerous plaintiffs and subjected clients to significant exposure in excess of available insurance coverage. He has also defended clients against multiple lawsuits arising out of the same alleged occurrence or conduct. Often, his cases involve claims for punitive damages pursuant to the Colorado Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (CCIOA) and Colorado’s statutory bad faith statutes, C.R.S. 10-3-1115 and 1116. Max is a member of the Insurance Law and Product Liability committees of the Defense Research Institute, as well as the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.  As a member of the Insurance Law committee, Max has twice co-authored the Colorado section of DRI’s Insurance Bad Faith: A Compendium of State Law. In 2015 and again in 2016, Max was a member of the Colorado Bar Association’s CLE’s Faculty and was a presented at the Annual Tort Law Update on the topic Insurance Law.  He is licensed in both Colorado and Louisiana, where he practiced for five years before relocating to Colorado. Max received his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, in 1998.
